Emily Marszalek
Biography
Acting and performance has been an important aspect in Emily’s life since a young age, and as an emerging artist she hopes to develop and create work that influences audiences and artists abroad. After completing a 3-year performance training degree at TAFE QLD (partnership with the University of Canberra) with a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Acting and Performance), Emily has learned what makes good theatre, and how to develop work that both intrigues and challenges audience’s minds. She has trained and worked closely with recognised Brisbane artists, Anatoly Frusin (acting), Lisa O’Neill (choreography), Rosalind Williams (voice), Stephen Lance (screen and TV), and Brian Lucas (solo work and performance). For a long time, Emily has been passionate about the creative arts in both acting, producing, and writing. Performing already in many local performance spaces such as the Diane Cilento Studio, and the Norman Price theatre, Emily wants to pursue a career in both stage and film while also broadening her experiences to more behind-the-scenes to produce and create her own work as independent theatre. Emily’s focus and passion for the development of local Brisbane theatres is to see and produce challenging and complex works that push the boundaries of audiences and theatre today.
Reviews
The entirety of the cast worked so well as a cohesive collective, it is difficult to describe their performances individually. Each were committed to their character, which had clearly been researched and developed into well-rounded and thought out personalities, and interacted with one another with the familiarity one would expect from members of a sports team. Each brought a powerful intensity, light and shade and above all, energy, to their performance. Each actor was faultless in their execution of dialogue and blocking contributing to the overall professionalism of the show.
Emily Marszalek embodied the awkwardness of her character with authenticity.
