Stephen Hirst
Biography
Stephen versatility brings personality and depth to performances on both stage and screen. His skills in both dramatic and comedic roles have allowed him to explore many avenues of performance including: Stage, Musical Theatre, Film, Television and Improvisation.
Stephen’s theatre credits include Jerry Daniels – “Chasing the Whale”, Benedick – “Much Ado About Nothing”, Exeter – “Henry V”, Baptista – “The Taming of the Shrew”, Oberon – “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and ”Harold Gorringe – “Black Comedy”.
Stephen has performed in over twenty Musicals including Will Parker – “Oklahoma”, The Baker – “Into the Woods”, Michael Feldman – “Back to the Eighties”, Apostle / High Priest – “Jesus Christ Superstar”, Sir Galahad – “Spamalot” (opp Julie Anthony/Rob English/Simon Gallaher) and Greg – “The Boy From Oz”.
His Film and Television Credits include “Parer’s War” and “The Fear of Darkness”

Stephen Hirst’s Howie at first shows strength with his head-down, work-away-the-pain attitude. But when seemingly small moments affect him, you can feel the heartbreak: pleading to have his beloved dog back, even though it may have caused the accident that killed his son, and the despair when he realises that their only VHS tape of their son may have been recorded over, is very real.

Stephen also performed and collaborated on the Queensland production of Joh for PM, a comedy musical about the life of Joh Bjelke-Petersen. He was involved in a creative development with QPAC for Black Box the musical and co-devised and starred in the comedy Two Man Tarantino at Brisbane Powerhouse.
Training
Stephen has trained in physical theatre, improvisation and clowning for many years and his recent collaborations of new Queensland work have been with Oscar Theatre Company, Understudy Productions and Brisbane Powerhouse (2019).
