James Dyke
Biography
James graduated from QUT’s BFA Acting program in 2014 and has established a diverse career encompassing film, television, and theatre. He is deeply grateful for the support of his family, who have been enthusiastic champions of his journey, although they jokingly prefer he had landed a role on "Neighbours" over "Home and Away.”
His passion for acting was sparked and nurtured by his high school drama teacher, Michelle Carey, who encouraged him to pursue his first professional play at Brisbane Arts Theatre in 2011 and audition for the QUT BFA Acting program. James attributes his success in the industry to the relationships he has cultivated along the way.
Beyond acting, James finds creative fulfillment in woodworking, leathercraft, and silversmithing, crafting bespoke serving platters, coffee tables, wallets, and rings. Each of his handmade creations is a unique expression of his craftsmanship.
James is driven by his love for acting and writing, with aspirations to create a platform that supports emerging Australian creatives in achieving their dreams. He brings high energy and enthusiasm to his work, cherishing opportunities to collaborate with talented peers in the nurturing environment of Ad Astra.
Looking ahead, James eagerly anticipates expanding his portfolio with future projects alongside the Ad Astra team.

Reviews
James Dyke gives a captivating performance as Leon/Nick, seamlessly transitioning between the two characters. As Leon, the handsome cop and remorseful husband, he conveys confidence and self-awareness. While his depiction of Nick, the suspicious neighbour under interrogation, emanates a simmering tension as he presents his version of events with what appears to be an truthful demeanour. His natural ease on stage is so immersive that I often found myself forgetting I was watching a play; it felt more like a scene unfolding on screen. His understated delivery, particularly in Nick's interrogation sequences, is cinematic, drawing the audience into each subtle detail and heightening the sense of realism in the unfolding drama.

‘Doll Hunt and James Dyke were particularly good at finding the comedic moments, which in life, often spring from the most dramatic. Their scene in the bar was an Act One highlight.’
