Wayne McPhee
Biography
Wayne is a multi-disciplinary creative based in Brisbane, working primarily in the fields of film and theatre. Wayne is a great supporter of the independent creative scene in Brisbane and has had the opportunity to consult on multiple projects and is starting his first mentorship program with his company The X Collective in 2024.
His previous projects include the film 'The Wolves that Live in Skin and Space,' and the upcoming short 'Exquisite Pain.' He had his first theatrical directing opportunity in the 2021 Short + Sweet Festival with 'It Was Tuesday.' shortly followed by the full length production Philip Ridley's 'Leaves of Glass' which was received with great acclaim by audiences. This was followed up with a season of Nassim Solemanpour's experimental theatre piece 'White Rabbit, Red Rabbit' where he brought together 24 of Brisbane's best performers including Roxanne McDonald, Eugene Gilfedder, Steve Rooke and the legendary Australian actress Amanda Muggleton.
2023 saw Wayne direct acclaimed script 'Venus in Fur,' and has focused on consulting on projects and building The X Collective's brand in Brisbane. Wayne has also started curating his first mixed media immersive gallery experience which will see audiences in the first half of 2025.
Wayne loves to dream bigger and then go even further with every project he takes on. Wayne hopes to be able to share his experiences and encourage others to challenge the local creative community, push boundaries, take risks and be unapologetic.
