Helen trained at Mountview Theatre School in London. She has since enjoyed a vibrant acting career, latterly gaining a glowing reputation in acting, accent and voice coaching for stage and screen. Helen collaborates with her partner, Michael Futcher, as a writer and as co-director of their award-winning company, Matrix Theatre.


Biography

Helen trained at Mountview Theatre School in London, going on to act in theatre and television in the UK and then in Australia from the early 1990s. She appeared in many QTC and La Boite productions, winning several Matilda Awards, including Best Actress for Molly Sweeney (dir. Jennifer Flowers) and Rabbit Hole, (dir. Michael Futcher) at QTC, and Best Supporting Actress for Last Drinks, (dir. Ian Lawson), at La Boite. Helen also acted for Matrix Theatre, the company she founded with Michael Futcher in 1994, in their award-winning productions of Lunch and The Woods, The King and the Corpse! and 1347. For 25 years Helen’s work has taken her into accent, acting and voice coaching, but she still acts whenever possible. Recent credits for theatre include: Piano Lessons with Anna Goldsworthy, (Dir. Michael Futcher), Queen Margaret in The Tragedy of Richard III, La Boite (dir. Dan Evans), Jane Eyre for Shake and Stir, and Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Melbourne. On screen she has appeared in the feature films: Christmas on the Farm (dir. Christoper Weekes), Don’t Tell (dir. Tori Garrett), Love and Monsters (dir. Michael Matthews), Bloody Hell (dir. Alister Griersen); Short films: The Girlfriend (dir. Luke Mayze) and Thea Goes to Town (dir. Georgia Temple ); TV: Joe vs Carole (dir. Natalie Bailey), Harrow (dir. Grant Brown), The Family Law (dir. Jonathon Brough) and Web Series: The Wedding (dir. Cameron March) and Nevernight (dir. Genevieve Kertesz). Helen is also an award-winning writer and director.
