Reviews

Lighting design by Cale Dennis was used to great effect to enhance the mood and action on stage. The sharp black-outs utilised in the second half of the show were perfectly timed and incredibly effective. The use of lighting to mimic that of an indoor stadium worked to great effect and made the stage area feel vast.

Cale Dennis’ lighting design was memorable, creating the impression of stadium lighting and also used to cut scenes and reveal character in a striking and impactful way.

The production is also supported by a simple but effective set design that lets the performers take centre stage, plus spot-on costumes, make-up and backstage work by Caitlin Hill and Cale Dennis, neat lighting by B’Elanna Hill, and a perfect handpicked musical backdrop.

The two males in the cast are confident and create a good contrast with the three young women. Michael (Cale) gives a confident performance and commands a good stage presence. The atmosphere created by the players is real and the audience are carried along with the action and events.

In a small theatre space, the technicals can not afford to distract, and stage manager Cale Dennis and sound/technical designer Theo Bourgoin ensured a seamless show. The David Bowie soundtrack was the icing on the cake for me in this nostalgic and melancholic remembrance of things past and highly recommended production.

The chosen plays are all different in their content, style and tone, however, as orchestrated by directors Cale Dennis and Samara Louise, they are threaded together by their contemplation of connectiveness in the world.
