"Aurelie Roque was outstanding in the role of Marlene. She took command of the stage from the second she stepped onto it and her presence was noticeable throughout, even amongst the hub-bub of the dinner party and the hustle and bustle of the office. She was believable as a powerful corporate climber and her accent was unswerving throughout. As the protagonist of the play, the audience was in safe hands with Roque, who served as the only consistent touchpoint in this perplexing play.”

“The cast is rounded out by Aurelie Roque as Colleen, who does not appear until late into the second act and has the convenient job of only being in the funniest scene of the show. Roque was slick and amusing and injected a fresh new energy into the piece when she entered. One wishes she had more to do but she makes a meal out of her limited stage time and every other performer seemed to lift their game when she was on as well. Most of the biggest audience laughs came from the scene Roque was in, with every actor getting at least one laugh-out-loud line.”

That is until the late Act Two appearance of property developer Colleen Worthington (Aurelie Roque), in progress of a subplot of local council redevelopment plans for the business, which leads to some of the show’s funniest moments, especially in her conflict with the feisty Maureen.

“And, making a surprise appearance as property developer, Colleen Worthington, Aurelie Roque adds a glamorous, albeit villainous, edge to the drama. Another colourful character, and Aurelie really seems to enjoy portraying this gold-digger.”

‘...and Roque deserves a second equally special mention for her fabulously straight face and comic timing that made the most of her character’s sarcasm.’

‘Aurelie Roque achieves her aim of telling her story with warmth and humour…’

‘There was never any doubt that [Aurélie Roque] could steal the show, but she resists (that) temptation and plays nice – real nice – with performers and unsuspecting audience members.’
